Masters Degree in
Fine Arts & Design

Unlocking Talents
To Become Agents
for Positive Change

Ideal to working adults who are passionate about expanding their authentic creative vision, exchanging ideas for the development of the visual arts field and/or society, and mastering the power of art and design to affect change. SFAD’s Masters degree in Fine Arts and Design (M.FAD) is a world-class community for professionals from different fields in visual arts who embrace diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Since 2020, M.FAD has adapted to remote learning environments to meet the needs of adult learners amidst the pandemic. Scheduled synchronous (remote) meetings provide community-building with fellow graduate students aside from mentorship from experienced faculty, and asynchronous coursework offers flexibility to learn at one’s own pace. When face-to-face meetings become safe and possible again, the program will return to regular classroom setting but envisions hybrid classrooms during the transition phase to accommodate distance learners or students who found comfort in remote learning.

As a master’s student, you will:

  • Pursue visual art experimentation (research) independently while also being guided by feedback from faculty and fellow students to become aware of one’s own blindspots.
  • Engage and navigate through terrains of differences in the perception of art through making, reading, speaking, and writing towards a sustainable unity.
  • Develop into an ethical and thoughtful learner, an intelligent and diplomatic communicator, and a competent and collaborative professional.
  • Become one of avant-grade SFAD Alumni that acknowledge all forms of art and design are valid expressions, that have challenged the limitations of art and design, and have utilized the power of art to become catalysts for positive change
