Painting abstract art is an exciting course to learn new and various ways to create styles, ideas and techniques and knowing to free your mind of visual restrictions and create meaning to it.  The course aims to develop your sensibilities to the modern and contemporary themes more than simply throwing paint on canvas. The workshop is designed to develop perceptual and technical skill , sensitivity to colors through demonstrations using acrylic paints and mixed media.  Upon completing this  adventure and exploration, you’ll be ready to explore further with personal understanding of the artistic mindset and set of skills.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn color theory and properties of acrylic paint, mediums and other media.

  • Develop an art making process by applying method of subtraction, simplification, collage, incorporating mixed media, making the process based that communicate personal authentic voice.

  • Develop one’s ability to verbalize ideas and processes in art making.

  • Ability to develop and present a culminating body of work.

Printmaking is a practice-focused workshop that combines technical instruction and understanding of the conceptual aspects of printmaking. It covers basic processes, materials, procedures of monoprints, traditional print formats and opportunity to learn and utilize various printmaking techniques toward the discovery of personal visual language.  Studio printmaking

practice covers collaborative experiences for participants to watch, learn, discuss, critique and create artworks. The workshop allows participants the satisfaction of creating a wide range of images that will include multiples.

Learn basic watercolor techniques from an award winning artist, the use of basic watercolor techniques as wet into wet, wash rendering, transparent and transparent color glazing. Learn how to stretch watercolor paper and a variety of paper weights that alter the characteristics of paint. Emphasis of the course is both conceptual and manipulative techniques of watercolor rendering.

This art workshop covers key foundations to materials and techniques used in oil painting. It will include topics and vocabulary in understanding oil painting practices. The workshop is designed to introduce basic fundamentals of oil painting covering painting techniques, demonstrate the application of depth or perspective in still life, figure, and landscape painting.  It will explore the particular expressive potential of the student by demonstrating skills in the execution of a series of exercises using alla prima, scumbling, and impasto painting.
