History

In 1925, PWC opened the School of Education.

In 1932, PWC earned government recognition as a UNIVERSITY, the first university for women in Asia founded by Asians.

The PWU School of Education believes that success in the teaching profession depends partly on the teacher’s broad foundation of education.

A general course of study provides this foundation in the freshmen year at the Freshmen Division.

As early as second year, the students are given opportunities to be aware of the realities of teaching through guided exposure activities and observation of school situations.

As part of the College community service, students engage themselves in the education of out-of-school children and youths through educational and recreational programs. Provision is made for leadership training, child development and adult education.

The School of Education gears itself to the training of educators who can be leaders in their fields: School Management curriculum design; alternative/mixed modes of delivery; and, in the preparation of instructional materials.
