Professional courses are threaded though from the first year through the last trimester with the emphasis on nursing concepts with corresponding Related Learning Experience (RLE). The BSN Program at the Philippine Women\u2019s University provides an intensive nursing practicum that will refine further the nursing competencies to ensure achievement of the BSN program outcomes required of an entry level nurse.<\/p>\n<p>The BSN program aims to develop a professional nurse who is able to assume entry level positions in healthcare facilities or community settings. The professional nurse is capable of providing safe, humane, quality, and holistic care to individuals in varying age, gender, and health- illness status; healthy or sick families; population groups; and community, singly or in collaboration with other health care providers to promote health, prevent illness, restore health, alleviate suffering and provide end of life care.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Collegiate nursing education at the Philippine Women\u2019s University was initiated in 1950 with a post-basic course in nursing for graduates of hospital schools of nursing. In response to a very inspiring clamor to offer basic nursing program, a feasibility study on \u201cThe Projected College of Nursing in the Philippine Women\u2019s University\u201d by Anastacia Giron Tupaz was tested out. In 1960, the PWU College of Nursing started and offered a five year integrated curriculum leading to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
