In the difficult times that affected our country, PWU community come together in solidarity and demonstrated their support and assistance for our fellow Filipinos who have suffered from the recent blows of the series of typhoons especially in some parts of Luzon. We are grateful for your response on our donation drive to provide relief package assistance to our countrymen who have been displaced and affected by the inundation of the recent strong typhoons.
The collected donations have been utilized to purchased in-kind food items (rice, canned goods, coffee, milk, sugar, cereal, biscuits, misua) which have been allocated for 350 family beneficiaries.
On November 26, 2020, UNICORP Team in coordination with DSWD Region 4-A Provincial Link Officer, Mr. Severo Talavera assisted in the endorsement of relief package for 100 families from Sitio Katwiran (Ati minority group) and Sitio Wawa of Barangay San Rafael Rodriguez, Rizal. Some of these family beneficiaries especially the Ati minority group lost their homes and has to rebuild from scratch.
Moreover, UNICORP coordinated with the Local Government of Patnanungan, Quezon (part of Polilio Group of Islands) and endorsed the relief packages for 250 families. Patnanungan is one of the landfall areas and devastated during the onslaught of Typhoon Rolly in Luzon. The local government unit through their MSWDO (Municipal Social Welfare Development Officer), Ms. Christina Refazo, has arranged for the transportation of collecting the in-kind goods at PWU and ferry the donations to Patnanungan island.
