Once again, we hold our heads high as we congratulate representatives of the PWU School of Medical Technology who were awarded 3rd place at the recently concluded Oral and Poster presentation sponsored by the Philippine Association of Schools of Medical Technology and Public Health (PASMETH). The contest was part of the 48th Annual PASMETH Convention held last May 2-4, 2018, at One Tagaytay Place in Tagaytay City.

Ms. Amapola Puaso (SMT faculty) and Ms. Lea Ballares (MSMT batch 2015) garnered the award for their oral presentation on goat and mouse antihuman antibodies, and their relation to the Hepatitis C virus. Meanwhile, Christina Widwidan (MSMT student), Gladys Aquino (MSMT student) and Bernard Ebuen (MSMT batch 2010) were honored for their poster submission entitled “Determination of Lemon Grass Extract as an Effective Disinfectant Against Staphylococcus Aureus”.

The contest was one of several activities at the PASMETH Convention aimed at launching the countdown to their 50th anniversary. Other activities included a tree-planting program at the Buhay Forest Farm in Cavite, where they intend to plant 50k trees, and an 80s-themed Fellowship Night.
