Introduction

Nutrition as a profession had its beginnings in the country with the Philippine Women's University as one of the centers of academic excellence. The nutrition department in PWU started in 1952. Many leaders and authorities in the field of nutrition came from PWU. Because of changing needs, concerns and challenges, the nutrition department was put under the Philippine Institute of Nutrition Food Science and Technology (PINFST). In 2004, the nutrition department again became separate from PINFST to give it the opportunity to up better respond to global demands and challenges.

The School of Nutrition is now looking forward with a fresh approach arrived at strengthening its resources and capabilities with the ultimate goal of repositioning the school as a leading player just like it was 56 years ago.
