JASMS Manila students won in the 3rd YMCA National Club Advisers' Seminar Workshop and Junior Leaders Campference on January 27-30, 2012 at the Teachers's Camp in Baguio on the theme: "Fostering a Positive Emotional Climate Towards Leadership Excellence":

PWU Women's Varsity Badminton Team

Our Women's Varsity Badminton Team won and became Champion in the following events:

42nd WNCAA (Women's National Collegiate Athletic Association) - held last January 29, 2012 at Rizal Memorial Stadium. Ms. Jessamine Queenie M. Dinio was named MVP (Most Valuable Player).

10th WCSA (Women's Colleges Sports Association) - held last February 5, 2012 at Assumption College. Ms. Pamela Beatrice C. Solomon was named MVP (Most Valuable Player).

The following PWU School of Fine Arts students won in the recent 1st Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Painting Copetition:

Mr. Franco Raymundo Moscardon Maigue

Won First Prize in the recent Philippine International Guitar Festival and Competition 2012 held last January 28-29, 2012, organized by the CCP and Guitar Friends. Mr. Maigue is taking up Master of Music major in Applied Music (Guitar).

JASMS-QC Alumni won in 26th SEA Games

We are pleased to inform that the following JASMS-QC alumni won in the 26th SEA Games held in Jakarta, Palembang, Indonesia on November 11-12, 2011.

  • Ms. Elaine Khristine Apelo Flores (batch 2001): gold medalist for wall boulder climbing.
  • Ms. Erica Bautista Samonte (bathc 2004) won two (2) bronze medals: Karate-do Individual Kumite (50kgs and below) and Team Kumite.
YMCA Outstanding Delegate and Congress Secretary

School of Arts and Sciences student and PHILWOMENIAN Editor-in-Chief Vanessa Angeline Te was recognized as Outstanding Delegate and Congress Secretary during the 36th YMCA National Congress of College Students and 16th YMCA National Campus Club Advisers Seminar-Workshop held last October 26-30, 2011 at the Teachers Camp, Baguio City, where 276 student delegates and advisers from 41 schools attended.

JASMS Manila CMLI achievers

We are happy to inform the PWU community that during the 53rd Annual National Convention of the Children's Museum and Library, Inc. (CMLI) for Junior Members and Teacher Advisers held on October 23-27, 2011 at the Teacher's Camp, Baguio City, our delegates acquitted themselves very well. Ezekiel Garcia, third year, was declared CHAMPION in the Essay Writing Contest in Filipino besting all the contestants from 37 schools and was also elected as counselor, Regional Executive Board, CMLI, along with Noel Saguil, also a third year student of JASMS Manila. Our heartfelt congratulations to the faculty and students of JASMS Manila.

Jemille Pabalan

Ms. Jemille Pabalan, ABCA 3rd year student, won first Place in the Essay Writing contest during the Youth Peace Festival 2011 with the theme: "Youth Peace-building Initiative Towards Responsive Community Action" held last Sept. 24th at the SM Mall Asia Concert Grounds, Pasay City.

The event was participated by NSTP students together with the NSTP students from other schools and universities in Metro Manila, coordinated by SM Prime Holdings, Inc., national University, TUP, PSNEI, Global Peace Festival Foundation-Phil. and Higher Educational Institutions NSTP Sector.

WNCAA Women's Futsal Tournament Champion

The PWU Women's Futsal Team is the Champion via a 6-0-0 Sweep of the 2011. The following team members also won Special Awards:

Ms. Carmenrose E. Matabuena, Grade VII student of JASMS Manila, won nine (9) Gold Medals at the MILO Little Olympics - NCR Elimination held at the Marikina Sports Complex held on August 13-14, 2011 in the following events:

  • 100 Meter Butterfly
  • 50 Meter Freestyle
  • 100 Meter Freestyle
  • 200 Meter Freestyle
  • 400 Meter Freestyle

Matabuena will represent the MILO NCR Team that will compete against teams from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao at the MILO Little Olympics National Finals on November 18-20, 2011 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center, Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Prof. Adalbert M. Alcaide

Professor Adalbert M. Alcaide, School of Hospitality and Tourism, won the Silver in US poultry category and Bronze in the US beef category at the 2011 Philippine Culinary Cup competitions held last August 3-6, 2011 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City

Mr. Alcaide competed against more than thirty (30) international and local chefs of renowned hotels. This is the second year in a row that he has won prizes in this prestigious compeition.

Moreover, PWU is the only university that qualified to participate in the competition and emerged with success.

School of Nutrition - Licensure Exam Passers
