The Philippine Women's University School of Music will hold "An Afternoon of Chamber Music" featuring noted artists Joseph Esmilla (violinist), Victor Coo (cellist) and Rudolf Golez (pianist) on August 11, 2011, 3:00 pm at the School of Music Audition Hall, Taft campus, Manila.
The three musical genius will play Café Music by Paul Schoenfield, concierto para Trio, Soledad and La Muerte del Angel by Astor Piazzola. Capping the program is the rendition of Felix Mendelssohn's Trio no. 1 in d minor, opus 49.
Esmilla, artist-in-residence of the PWU School of Music at aged 14 was granted a scholarship at The Juilliard School in New York, USA where he received his Bachelors and Masters of Music Degrees.
He has since won a concerto competition, performed as featured soloist with symphony orchestras here and abroad and participated in summer festivals and programs worldwide.
Meanwhile, Golez, an award-winning international concert pianist, similarly had his early music training at The Juilliard School of Music under world-renowned pianist Seymour Lipkin. He has been recently appointed faculty of the School of Music.
A masters degree holder in piano performance from the University of the Philippines, Golez has performed in the key cities of US, Europe and Asia and participated in piano festivals abroad.
The young virtuoso is recognized as the sole prize-winner at the First ASEAN Chopin International Competition held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
Multi-awarded cellist Coo, on the other hand, now based in Taiwan, gained recognition at the age of 14 when he performed in the winner's concert at the National Competition for Young Artists in the Philippines.
Prior to completing his BA in music at Washington Adventist University, USA and masters at the University of Maryland, he won in cello competitions in the US and was featured as a soloist with the World Youth Orchestra.
