Role of PWU International Students (PWUIS)

Five aspects which define the PWUIS

  1. Cultural Experiences and Formation of the Spirit of Oneness
    1. Share the stories, histories, cultures and heritages of the respective countries with other international students.
    2. Encourage the spirit of oneness and unity and foster the sense of brotherhood and sisterhood to one other.
    3. Networking with one another that will leave a solid foundation for the future partnership and friendship.
  2. Respect
    1. Recognize and understand both the similarities and differences of other cultures, histories and backgrounds and foster the sense of "unity in diversity".
    2. Be a proactive listener on what others are saying and give constructive and genuine feedback.
    3. Punctuality and active participation whenever there are meetings, assemblies and gatherings concerning the international students.
    4. Develop the positive, healthy and harmonious relationship both in talking and listening.
    5. Appreciate and promote each other's gifts for the benefit of self and others.
    6. Love and care for their immediate environment.
  3. Service
    1. Grounded in faith, belief and personal convictions
    2. Necessitates active, personal involvement
    3. Requires communal action and reflection
    4. Reaches persons in need
    5. Offers a challenge to reach out to different economic, racial, gender and age groups
    6. Provides to both the school and outside community
  4. Community
    1. Open to the entire school community
    2. Initiate different games and picnics to be held and enhance the active interactions among the members
    3. Connect to the PWUIS both who are studying and those who have accomplished the studies
    4. Active participation during the International Foreign Students Day
    5. Fostered through regular meetings
    6. Make a commitment to PWU to be the Alumni
  5. Advice and Counseling
    1. Understanding self and others by consulting the Guidance and Counseling Office in order to obtain help in clarifying and resolving a situation of perceived concerns, challenges related to studies and personal life.
    2. Accept self and others in spite of the differences towards fully becoming a person of integrity.
  6. Special English Language Course
    1. Based on the needs of the student give intensive English language curse that will enable them improve both their spoken and written English proficiency.
    2. Encourage and facilitate debates that help critical thinking and improvement of the language.
