Greetings to everyone here at these
ceremonies,
Personally and in behalf of my fellow awardees, I thank the
Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines or COHREP
for the signal and deep honor they have bestowed on us today. We will cherish
this award which is given out only every two years.
I really feel this very deeply as
the awardee from academe. I think I
can say this also for my
co-awardees, Director Victoria V.
Jasmin of the Office of Standards
and Training of the Department of
Tourism; my friend Leonor M. O’Leary
in whose Marco Polo Restaurant Chain
I have many times enjoyed great food
and impeccable service; and Del
Monte Philippines whose food
products are a by-word for quality
and wholesomeness and whose business
practices are very progressive and
admirable.
COHREP is to be congratulated too
for making this a very well-balanced
award program. For although COHREP
is an association of educators
preparing aspiring hotel and
restaurant professionals and
practitioners, they choose their
awardees from the three component
sectors that are vital to the
sustainability of the hospitality
management industry. The awardees
are chosen from and respectively
represent academe who educate and
train hotel and restaurant
professionals and practitioners;
from government which sets the
policies and the framework for the
sustainable and orderly growth and
management of the industry; and from
corporate organizations and
individual business proprietors who
ultimately make the industry a
viable and dynamic one because they
engage and provide employment and
personal and professional growth and
fulfillment to the people in the
industry. The COHREP Patnubay award
demonstrate a truly comprehensive
vision and broad perspective. It is
thus a truly significant honor and
privilege to be a COHREP Patnubay
awardee.
I particularly would like to thank,
in behalf of my fellow awardees,
COHREP leaders and officers
instrumental in our being chosen as
awardees: Dr. Corazon F. Gatchalian,
COHREP Board member, who explained
to us the objectives and criteria
for the Patnubay Award, Professor
Evangeline E. Timbang, chairperson
of the Award Committee, Dr. Ignacio
S. Pablo, COHREP founding president,
and the members of the COHREP Board,
without whose concurrent and
support, the awards would not have
been possible.
I noted that COHREP also launched
tonight the first Golden Key Award
program. We wish you great success
in this new initiative and may it
grow in time to be as meaningful and
as successful as your Patnubay Award
which it would complement.
I likewise thank everyone present
here for bearing witness to these
awards and making this occasion
significant by their presence.
But above all, I thank the Lord who
alone makes possible what we do and
are able to accomplish for our world
and fellow human beings. If we are
able to accomplish thins that are
award-worthy, it is because the Lord
gives us the ability and motivation
for doing so. God bless us all! |
