Japan Internships For PWU Students

Posted: June 28, 2018

Tourism and Hospitality Management students of the Philippine Women’s University will leave for Japan in July to participate in a 6-month internship program at premier hotels in Okinawa and Nagasaki. The students will undergo comprehensive on-the-job training and receive financial subsidies from host organizations for their travel and living expenses. The first batch of 21 interns from PWU has been accepted by KPG, a well-established premier hotel operator in Japan, after interviews conducted by KPG officials in the PWU Manila campus.

PWU officials observed that there is a great demand for Filipino hotel personnel in Japan because of their ability to speak English, their willingness to learn Japanese and their innate hospitality. During a recent official visit to Japan, Mrs. Regina S. Filart (PWU VP-Operations), Mr. Alfredo B. Reyes (PWU VP-External Affairs) and Mr. Mark Soriano (Program chair of the PWU School of Tourism) met with Japanese officials and inspected the KPG properties where the students will be assigned. They said that this program is only the beginning of the partnership with several Japanese institutions and will demonstrate PWU students’ global competencies.
