About PWU-School of Habitat & Environment (PWU-SHE)
The School of Habitat & Environment was established in the early 1990s by our Chairman and President Emeritus, Helena Z Benitez who pioneered environmental education in the Philippines as a result of her participation in the 1972 Stockholm Conference (UN Conference on Human Environment) that created the UN Environment Program (UNEP). She is the first Filipino, woman and Asian President of UNEP's Governing Council in 1975.
Her passion for the environment and love for education paved the way for the school to pioneer and champion environmental education in the Philippines. As an affiliate academic unit of PWU, the School of Habitat & Environment has been at the forefront of providing both academic and continuing education services including research, and special programs & projects among others.
