Courses Description

A revised course in caregiving, which PWU started in 1993. The new curriculum answers both TESDA and Canadian requirements in terms of number of classroom and On-the-Job Training hours to ensure that students will be locally and internationally competent upon completion of the course. Graduates may be employed as caregivers in Canada, Israel, and UK.

This course is specifically designed to impart skills in caring for the handicapped, infants and the elderly. Also included in this course are studies in culinary arts, safety practices, culture and the arts, job readiness, and women in society. On the final month, participants will be required to attend an On-the-job training to affiliated institutions.

Brief History

The Career Development and Continuing Education Center (CDCEC) was established as an answer to the need for trained skilled workers particularly in business, tourism and food industries. It is also committed to the re-training and upgrading of skills of professionals and semi-professionals in the field.

Since it opened in 1978, CDCEC has produced graduates who value the dignity of labor, perseverance and service. It has been offering short-term courses on technological innovations and skills development.

To date, CDCEC has established several branches (franchises) in Baguio, Bulacan (Baliwag), Bataan, Calamba, Misamis Oriental, Sta. Cruz, Surigao and Tarlac.

It was June 2, 2008 when Philippine Women's University was granted Autonomous status, CDCEC was renamed "School of Continuing Education" as compliance with the requirements set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
