WHY a PWUAA
Foundation |

|
One of the aims
of the
Foundation is to
promote,
encourage,
conduct and
carry on the
advancement and
development of
education. The
framework of the
foundation was
initiated in
1985 by then
Alumnae
Association
President
Soledad
Sanvictores-Estrella
and the Alumnae
Relations
Officer, the
late Lourdes
Eleazegui-Guillermo.
The idea for
such an
association
emerged from the
general
perception that
there was a need
for a full time
body to oversee
long-range
alumnae
projects,
particularly in
relation to
donations.
Accordingly, the
Foundation
assists in the
implementation
of the PWU's
development
program through
grants,
bequests,
scholarships and
donations.
Potential
candidates must
have a burden to
uplift the
academic
standards of the
university and
be willing to
contribute
towards that
goal by serving
as active
resource
persons.
The 2002-2003
grantees were
Purita Uson, PWU
librarian; and
Marilyn Lauron,
office
assistant, PWU
Alumni Office.
The foundation
works in
partnership with
the PWU Alumni
Association and
the University
in carrying out
its programs.
The new board of
the PWU Alumni
Foundation met
at the residence
of Jazmin
Aspillera-Jocson
on October 8,
2003 to discuss
its project
focus for the
next year. Two
new officers
were elected -
Corazon
Fausto-Gatchalian
and Jazmin
Aspillera-Jocson.
