Research & Development
The PWU recognizes that its mission as an institution of higher learning is best pursued under a climate of lively scholarly inquiry and scientific research. Faculties of all academic units and programs are therefore encouraged to create and utilize new knowledge by undertaking research in their own fields.

The University adjusts its research agenda in response to changing needs and resources within the university community, the larger education sector and the country as a whole. Such updates in research priorities are affected largely by the faculty themselves, working through clusters of academic units and programs in allied disciplines.

A Research and Development Office (RDO) coordinates PWU’s research program. Working closely with the academic clusters and graduate degree programs, the RDO organizes the setting of university-wide and departmental research priorities and agenda; formulates and monitors implementation of research policies; identifies and accesses research resources and opportunities from internal and external sources; provides research publication, clearinghouse, and liaison services; and undertakes measures to foster faculty competence in research and upgrade the quality of research work in the university. As part of its research publication function, the RDO also serves as editorial secretariat of the PWU Research Journal, a periodical of selected university studies and papers issued regularly since 1996.
