Research & Development
Compendium of Theses and Dissertations (May 2005)
FOREWORD Through this second COMPENDIUM OF THESES AND DISSERTATIONS SY 2003-2005, I am pleased to inform the Academic Research Community that PWU has completed and submitted the first draft of its Asian Development Bank funded study on "Cost Effectiveness Study of Early Childhood Development (ECD) Interventions and Services of the Child Development Worker (CDW), Rural Health Midwife (RHM), Day Care Worker (DCW), Day Care Mother (DCM), and the Early Childhood Enrichment Packages" within the prescribed period of the contract. Fine tuning of some selected data and findings is underway to accommodate the recommendations of the Review Panel. The Commission on Higher Education has recently designated the PWU to play the lead role in "An Impact Study" on the Curriculum for the Common Two-Year Associate in Health Science Education (CHED Memorandum Order #27). Based on a research project proposal submitted by the PWU ASHE group, CHED has funded the study with the involvement of other schools. All PWU initiatives towards a Quality Assurance program has a built-in research component to measure the effectiveness of teaching-learning interventions and output. This has greatly enhanced the research climate within the University. Innovations and enhancement measures being initiated are largely a result of data analyses and evaluation of past experiences as well as relevant studies conducted by students and faculty. Under a recently crafted Research Framework of Outputs and Incentives, all regular full-time members without Summer teaching loads will undertake the formulation of viable research proposals to be carried out, either collectively or individually, throughout the School Year. This is another strategy towards a dynamic research climate in the University. In consonance with the spirit behind this Second Compendium of Theses and Dissertations we shall continue to share results of PWU researches for your comments and follow-up studies as appropriate. Dr. Amelou Benitez Reyes University President |
