E-mail: s_education@pwu.edu.ph BRIEF HISTORY In 1925, PWC opened the School of Education. From then on, PWU continued to rise to new heights of educational achievements and progress. Thirteen years later, in 1932, PWC earned government recognition as a UNIVERSITY, the first university for women in Asia founded by Asians. The PWU School of Education believes that success in the teaching profession depends partly on the prospective teacher's broad foundation of liberal education upon which to build her professional training. A general course of study provides this foundation in the freshmen year at the Freshmen Division. As early as the second year, the students are given opportunities to be aware of the realities of teaching through guided exposure activities and observation of school situations aligned with the foundation courses they are taking. As part of the College community service, students majoring in the different areas engage themselves in the education of out-of-school children and youths through educational and recreational programs. Provision is made for leadership training, child development and adult education. As we begin the third millennium, the School of Education gears itself to the training of educators who can be leaders in their fields, particularly in curriculum design, in alternative/mixed modes of delivery, and in the preparation of instructional materials.
